HOMELAKE VETERANS HISTORY CENTER MUSEUM
The museum was established in 2005 and is currently located in the Old Dining Hall of the Homelake campus. It houses storage and displays of Homelake and military mementos and memorabilia. It is also the archive of the Home’s administrative records and books and the state of Colorado’s unclaimed military medals.
The records of the veterans admitted to the Soldier’s and Sailor’s Home are being archived and will be available electronically for genealogical research. The museum also contains more than 200 collections of over 2000 items pertaining to Homelake and veterans from the home and the greater San Luis Valley. The museum library has more than 500 volumes and videos of military interest and Homelake history.
The current location of the Museum is running out of storage and display space. The Homelake Historic Preservation and Restoration Foundation’s current project is restoring the Old Administration Building which will become the future home of the Homelake Veterans History Center Museum.
The Museum is open to the public from Memorial Day to the first Friday in October. From October to Memorial Day, you can contact us for an appointment to visit the museum. Museum days and hours can vary depending on the number of volunteers we have available. Please visit the NEWS page of this website for current days and hours and contact information.
